Dear TJ,
Sleep Paralysis is not uncommon. It is usually exacerbated by stress. It is not harmful and usually goes away in 5-30 seconds. Usually one can open and move their eyes but nothing else. It is a terribly scary feeling (I had it myself during college) but once you know it's not uncommon, not harmful, and goes away, it's easier to deal with. If you have other sleep-related difficulties you should consult a sleep specialist.
Good Luck
