I don't have plain sleep apnea as I awaken totally
and don't go back into deep sleep again. However
you seem to say that you awaken totally also.
CPAP increased my sleep from 1 to 3.5 hours. UPPP
surgery gave me only 2 hours sleep. CPAP after
UPPP causes me to rip off the mask after 2 hours,
then immediately go back to sleep for 3 or 4 more
hours. However I wake up with hypercapnia symptoms
(tinnitus, headache, groggy mind, stiff muscles),
so I set my alarm to wake me up 3.5 hours after
bedtime (total sleep 3.5 hours). That provides the
same low symptom sleep I got with CPAP alone
before the surgery. However, I do see good
improvement in my awake breathing and fewer
daytime symptoms.
