Posted by Karl on September 25, 1997 at 14:04:29:I'nm looking for information on children with sleep disorders. I have a 7 year old girl who was a great sleeper up until May. She no longer sleeps through the night -- get's up between 2 and 5 AM and can't or is scared to go back to sleep. She wakes when we finish reading to her and/or try to leave the room.
It seems that she is afraid of going to sleep unless she sleeps with us (which we won't allow any more) or if way stay in her room until she's asleep. In either case, she will eventually wake up and wake us up . Is there any information available to kids who can't stay asleep. She has none of the symptoms I've come across in the sleep diorders areas. Our peditrician suggests that she see a therapist and possibly go to t sleep clinic.
