Sleep Apnea and Americans with Disability Act

Posted by L. Horwitz on October 06, 1997 at 13:56:20:

My husband has had his sleep apnea
complicated by an ongoing sinus problem. He is on CPAP
therapy but due to not being able to breath through his
nose the therapy has not been effective and he has
become more fatigued. He went to a sinus guy today to
see if the problem can be alleviated but in the mean
time he has dozed off twice at work due to the fatigue.
His boss told him that if it happened again he would be
terminated. What can he do to protect his job while
he is trying to fix his medical problem? Would he be
protected under the ADA? Does anyone have any suggestions
on what accommodations he could ask for that would be
reasonable?
