Sleep Debt is to rest as starvation is to food. You CAN get by on less than the body requires for good health and optimal performance, but you will perform, indeed exist at a sub-optimal level. Fatigue form any source leads to impared immune response, decreased creativity, moodiness, irritability, impared memory(especially short term), poor problem solving and stress handling skills, and even poor physical performance and limited physical growth.
