You sound desperate for sleep, Charlene. I'm not an M.D. but here's a suggestion for a temporary sleep aid that has worked for many of my friends, acquaintances, and myself: Benadryl! It's the secret ingredient in Tylenol-PM. Take two about 1/2 hr. before your bedtime. (And of course do all the other things you know about already, like no caffeine, no strenuous exercise in late afternoon or early evening, etc. It has done miracles for me--helps me sleep 7-8 hrs. without waking, or if I do, I go right back to sleep. Only problem is, if you take it long-term you build up a tolerance to it and it doesn't work as well. That's good if you're taking Benadryl as an antihistamine--eventually it doesn't make you sleepy! Another caution is, if you should not take antihistamines for some reason, Benadryl wouldn't be a good idea. GOOD LUCK and sweet dreams.
