inability to wake

Posted by Paula Czop on October 20, 1997 at 11:49:17:

I am a 29 year old female who has been suffering from sleep difficulties for 20 years. The complaint which most effects my life is my inability to wake up. If left on my own, I will sleep anywhere from 10 to 16 hours. Usually, my husband wakes me after 7 hrs of sleep, but only with great difficulty. I wake slowly, if at all feeling in a fog which lasts an hour or more. I seldom feel refreshed, and remain tired through out the day. I've been told that I'm quite active in my sleep (twitching and mumbling), and I have had several terrifying sleep walking episodes. I have been told that these are syptoms of depression, but I disagree. I am an otherwise healthy woman, with a positive attitude. I want to get up, but just sometimes can't.
I've been hearing something about neurally mediated hypotension (I fit the criteria), in relation to CFS. I was wondering if this could also relate to sleep disorders. What is wrong with me?
