Melatonin does not promote sleep as much as it has
an affect on the circadian rhythm (your biological
clock that tells you when to go asleep). Research
is still underway to determine if melatonin is safe
in higher than normal doses (it is known to affect
the reproductive cycle, etc.). You should consult a
sleep doc who has a good grasp on insomnia. There
are much better treatments available.
