Keep waking up, kinda paranoid

I usually fall asleep pretty quickly, but only remain sleeping for about two hours before I wake up. After that point, I generally cannot fall back to sleep for another two or three hours. When I do finally fall back to sleep, I seem to keep waking up, or else feel like I've spent all night trying to get to sleep, but have not been able to. During the period of time when I'm fully awake, I usually find myself worrying that someone's trying to break in (although I live in an area with a VERY low crime rate). Also have recurring nightmares when I've been lucky enough to fall asleep. What can I do to calm myself down?
