For a while I have suspected that I have some kind of sleep disorder. Frequently (but, not daily) I wake up in the morning very "foggy" and with a dull, non-localized headache. I no longer drink alcohol (several years now), but the headache reminds me of a mild hang-over. I tend to wake up once or twice every night too. In the mornings, I just "feel" like I'm not getting enough air if that makes sense. My wife says I never snore and she has never noticed me stop breathing.
Now, I have a history of thorasic (sp?) outlet syndrome -- I call it a pinched nerve in the shoulder, but it's actually more of a condition of the nerve being "overstretched" -- which causes deep, burning pain in my left shoulder during the day. When I sleep on my back, my outside two fingers on the left hand frequently go numb.
Could I have some kind of apnea, or should I first refocus on the nerve condition? It's the headaches and fogginess that concern me. Should an apnea problem occur every night? I've had the nerve condition for over five years, but the headaches et al are more recent. Maybe it's a combination problem?
I'm definitely going to see the doctor, but any info anyone can offer would help.
Thanks!
Chris
